Human Resource:
Human Resource is an important factor to determine the feasibility of economic development of a country. Human Resources mean the population of an economy. Rapid population growth is advantageous to the under populated developing economy but it is an obstacle in economic development of an over populated economy like Assam. Assam’s land area constitutes 2.4% of the total land area of the country, whereas it gives shelters to the extent of 2.64 per cent of country’s population. Out of total population (3, 12, 05, 576) of Assam, 14.10% people live in urban areas. The urban population in the last 10 years has increased by 14.10 per cent. In respect of population and area, Assam ranks thirteenth and twelfth respectively among the states of India. Assam had the distinction of recording one of the highest growth rates of population among all the states. Large scale immigration of population from the neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal etc. was highly responsible for the high decadal growth rate of population of the state. But at the same time many people has been migrated to the state from many Indian states also. But the human quality of the state is not so high. At the time of independent the literacy rate of the state was higher than the national level, but it is now lower than it. At the same time density of population also high than the national level.
Assam is also important in some other economic re-sources. The two most important types of other economic resources include live stock resources and fishery resources.
